In 2011, only some months after Monocle’s huge success of their first model café in Tokyo. The magazine didn’t hold up for too long to officially opened their second café in the heart of London. As I am a big fan of the magazine myself, this place had been long bookmarked in my London travel plan for these past few years. When we entered the café we could feel that Monocle really brought Japanese aesthetics back home. From the menu to interior atmosphere made it a down-to-earth kind of café where simplicity makes it so sincere and welcoming. We enjoyed our light lunch Beef Katsu Sandwich, Avocado Halloumi sandwich, Organic Lemonelly lemonade and Latte in the basement floor. Where it could also be hired by the magazine subscribers to organise small gatherings or business events. They even live boardcast their radio program, Monocle 24, from this café too. Next time when you come to London and look for a place to socialise with the like-minded readers + fine tuned Allpress coffee + japanese-inspired hearty food with seasonal ingredients and all simple good things done well. You know where to head to now.
